Project Description 

Volunteers will assist with trail maintenance and construction in the Martinez Canyon trail segment. Work will include reconstruction/maintenance of trail tread, clearing brush, minor trail reroutes and installation of Trailhead signs.

Project Details 

Meeting Time and Place: Meet at Camp Location between 3-5pm August 19

Directions to Camp Location: Camping will be nearby Forest Roads 1895 and 87. Detailed directions will be distributed to registered volunteers prior to the project.

Vehicle Requirements: 2WD to meeting and camp location

Elevation: Camp and Work Site Elevation ranges from 6,900 feet – 8,030 feet

Weather: Prepare for the extremes of cold and heat and the possibility of high wind and thunderstorms.

Hiking Distance: Easy-Moderate. Hike up to 2 miles on uneven ground, up to 1000′ elevation gain or loss and carry up to 2 tools.

Work Difficulty: Easy-Moderate. Digging trail tread, clearing brush, installing trail signage.  Some steep drainages, mostly rolling grades.

What’s Provided: Tools, project materials, work site supervision, qualified 1st aid personnel, safety equipment, meals and water.

Food and Water: Meals will be provided beginning with dinner on the first night as we have secured amazing volunteer cooks for this project. Remember to bring your dishware and eating utensils. You need to have capacity to carry 3-4 quarts water to worksite per day. Potable water will be available at the campsite.

Camping Information: Undeveloped car camping, portable toilet on site

Project scope and work may change due to land agency planning and funding.

Schedules are flexible and dependant on the condition and energy level of the volunteers. Frequent breaks are encouraged. CDTC encourages volunteers to work within their limitations and take care of themselves during the project. Please check the weather in your project area prior to leaving for the project and pack accordingly
