Suggested DonationJoin lifelong backpacker, CDTC Board Member, legendary trail angel, and author Barney “Scout” Mann for a discussion of his book “Journeys North: The Pacific Crest Trail.” “Journeys North” tells a harrowing and inspiring tale of the grit and perseverance needed to take on the PCT- especially during the once-in-a-generation drought and severe winter storms of 2007- and the strength and value of the relationships that form on trail.
“Journeys North” was a 2020 Banff Mountain Book Competition Finalist in Adventure Travel. Mann has been mentioned in the New York Times, and was named the “Dean of America’s Long-Distance Trails” by National Geographic. He remains incredibly active in the thru-hiking community, both by hosting thousands of PCT hikers at his San Diego home and by serving as president of the Partnership of the National Trails System and on the Board of the Continental Divide Trail Coalition.
Suggested donation of $10 with all proceeds going to the Continental Divide Trail Coalition.
