FreeJoin CDTC and the Greater Arkansas River Nature Association (GARNA) to ski with a naturalist at Monarch Ski Area, located along the Continental Divide!
Have you ever wondered…
Who owns the land we’re skiing/boarding on?
When did Monarch open and what is the oldest run?
How can animals thrive in this winter environment?
What kinds of trees live up here?
What is causing many of the trees to die?
How can you tell when avalanches are more likely to occur?
What are the names of some of the surrounding peaks?
How is Monarch different from other Colorado ski areas?
Join a Volunteer Interpreter for a fun, free on-mountain educational tour. Learn about the history of recreation on Monarch Pass, the ski area-USFS partnership, forest ecology, wildlife in the winter, and more.
Meet Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at the sign near the Cat Skiing Yurt across from the Pioneer lift.
